Greece emerges as top choice for European travelers in tourism survey

A rolling market survey conducted by the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) across ten major European markets shows that 29% of European travelers intend to visit Greece by May 2027, placing the country third among the most popular Mediterranean destinations. The strongest interest comes from Romania (45% of respondents), followed by Italy (38%) and Sweden (37%).

Among those planning a trip, 58% have already visited Greece while 42% would be first‑time visitors. September is the most preferred month, with 23% selecting it, and 35% plan travel between September and November 2026. The survey also recorded high satisfaction scores for the variety of experiences offered (83%) and the friendliness of locals (82%), with safety (77%) and infrastructure quality (75%) also rated positively. Data for the first wave were collected from 10 to 22 June 2026, with a detailed presentation scheduled for September.
