Greece's Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, has announced the permanent establishment and nationwide expansion of the Personal Assistant program for people with disabilities. Following a pilot phase, the program is being transformed into a stable state service designed to increase autonomy for beneficiaries in areas such as education, work, and social participation.

Starting January 1, 2027, monthly financial assistance will scale based on the level of need identified by special committees: up to 416 euros for minor needs, 831 euros for moderate needs, 1,352 euros for high needs, and up to 1,939 euros for cases of absolute and permanent dependency. The program will utilize digital applications and automated verification processes.

Eligibility is open to individuals aged 16 to 67 (with exceptions up to 75 for certain previous beneficiaries) with physical, intellectual, developmental, sensory, or mental disabilities. Applicants must be legal residents and tax residents of Greece with a KEPA disability certification of at least 67%. Income limits for participation are set at 35,000 euros for single-person households, with specific increases allowed for additional family members.
