Greece expands resettlement program with 10,000 euro incentives

Greece is expanding its resettlement program to combat demographic decline in specific regions. The initiative offers financial incentives of up to 10,000 euros for single-person and multi-person households that move their primary residence to designated areas.

While the program initially focused on the Evros region, it has now expanded to include eight additional regional units in Northern Greece, such as Kastoria, Kilkis, Serres, Florina, Pella, Drama, Kozani, and Grevena. A second phase is expected to include seven municipalities in Epirus, including Konitsa and Zagori, as well as the municipalities of Souli and Filiates in Thesprotia.

A significant change to the program is the removal of the requirement for beneficiaries to work in the relocated area. This allows remote workers, retirees, and the unemployed to qualify, provided they establish a permanent residence. The application platform for the new regions is expected to open in October.
