Greece experiences severe weather and wildlife sightings
Greece is facing significant weather disruptions and unusual wildlife encounters. Severe storms and heavy rainfall have been reported across various regions, leading the National Meteorological Service (EMY) to upgrade warnings to an Emergency Bulletin for Dangerous Weather Phenomena. Heavy rains are expected to continue through Wednesday, October 28. Significant flooding and water accumulation have caused traffic issues on the Athens-Corinth National Road and in Palaio Faliro, specifically near Amfitheas Avenue.
In Argos Orestiko, a bear was spotted wandering through the busy center on Yiagkopoulou Street. Residents reported that the animal appeared unbothered by noise and vehicle traffic. This follows a similar sighting in the same location on the previous day, suggesting the animal may be habituated to urban environments while searching for food. Local police are working to remove the bear, and authorities have advised citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid approaching the animal.
