Greece extends Home Renovation program deadline and expands criteria

Greek authorities have announced an extension and expansion of the ‘Home Renovation’ program under the ESPA 2021-2027 framework, which has a total budget of 500 million euros. The deadline for issuing eligibility certificates specifically for closed residences has been extended from August 31 to September 30, 2026.

Key changes include the removal of the previous restriction that limited funding to only one closed residence per household, now allowing citizens to apply for multiple properties. Additionally, eligibility criteria have been broadened: the minimum ownership or usufruct requirement has been reduced from 50% to 20%, and the maximum electricity consumption limit for unused properties has increased to 100 kWh.

New income thresholds for the 2025 tax year have also been established based on family status. For single-person households, limits are set at 18,000 euros for Category I and 25,000 euros for Category II. For married couples or partners without minor children, the limits are 25,000 and 35,000 euros, respectively. For families with minor children, limits increase by 5,000 euros for each additional child.

Eligibility certificates can be obtained digitally via anakainisi.gov.gr or gov.gr, with automated verification through AADE and DEDDIE databases.
