Two men were arrested on suspicion of arson linked to sparks from a wind‑farm cable network. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Greece faces “extremely difficult days” and pledged state support. During firefighting operations, two Bell‑type water‑dropping helicopters collided near the village of Psatha; one crew was rescued and taken to a military hospital in Athens, while the fate of the second crew remains unknown. Additional evacuations were ordered on the island of Kefalonia, and the fire has also prompted heightened alert in the wider Attica region.
