Greece home renovation program deadline approaches with 93,000 applications
The deadline for issuing eligibility certificates for the ‘Renovate Home’ program in Greece is set to expire on Wednesday, September 30. Interest in the state-subsidized renovation scheme has been high, with over 93,000 applications submitted to the platform. Of these, approximately 80,000 concern primary residences, while more than 13,000 involve vacant properties.
The Ministry of Finance has stated that applications for the renovation of vacant properties will be approved in their entirety. For primary residences, funding will be prioritized based on the applicants' income. The program targets homes with building permits issued by the end of 1990.
Subsidies cover between 70% and 95% of eligible costs, with maximum amounts reaching €36,000 for a 120-square-meter home, or up to €46,000 for applicants with two children. A cap of €300 per square meter applies. Additional 5% increases are available for residents in mountainous or island regions, as well as for vulnerable groups, including single-parent families, large families, and persons with disabilities. The program's total budget is €2 billion, with current absorption rates reaching approximately 95% of allocated funds.
