Greece hosts mental health awareness events for World Mental Health Day 2026
In observance of World Mental Health Day 2026, various organizations in Greece are hosting events to promote awareness and multidisciplinary care.
In Patras, the Regional Mental Health Services Network of the 6th Health Region is organizing an open event titled ‘Discussing Mental Illness Openly’ on Friday, October 9, at Polyedro. The initiative aims to shift the dialogue from specialists to citizens, including adolescents, adults, and seniors. The discussion will address the causes and impacts of mental illness, daily challenges faced by patients, and the social stigmas that lead to marginalization. Mental health professionals will participate to facilitate a dialogue focused on combating prejudice.
Additionally, the Scientific Department of ‘Physiotherapy in Mental Health’ of the Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association will host an online informative session on Sunday, October 11. This event focuses on the connection between physical and mental health, highlighting how physiotherapy can contribute to physical functionality, daily activity, and overall quality of life for individuals facing mental health issues. The session aims to promote collaboration between different healthcare professionals to provide holistic, human-centered care.
