Greece implements new spatial planning frameworks for investment

Greece is implementing a major spatial planning reform through the establishment of three new Special Spatial Frameworks. These frameworks are designed to organize investments in industry, supply chains, renewable energy sources, and tourism.

The Ministry of Environment and Energy aims to reshape the country’s investment map for the coming decades. By replacing fragmented regulations with a unified design, the reform seeks to provide legal certainty for investors while balancing economic growth with environmental protection and the needs of local communities.

Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou stated that this reform addresses a need that has existed in Greece for decades. The initiative involves collaborative efforts between the Ministries of Environment and Energy, Development, and Tourism to integrate industrial, energy, and tourism sectors into a sustainable development framework.
