These developments occur alongside significant aviation pressures. Following record-breaking air traffic in July 2026, Greece is addressing aging infrastructure through a 300 million euro modernization project for digital communication systems. This follows a referral to the European Court of Justice regarding delays in implementing required navigation improvements since 2020.
