Greece launches €70 smartphone voucher for people with severe disability

The Greek government will introduce a voucher scheme that provides up to €70 off the purchase of a smartphone. The discount is applied automatically at the point of sale, with the voucher amount deducted directly from the checkout price.

Eligibility is limited to individuals whose disability rating exceeds 67 %. Only smartphones that meet specific technical specifications and support modern communication and accessibility apps qualify. Purchases must be made through official mobile‑network operators and participating partner retailers.

The programme aims to reduce digital exclusion by enabling eligible citizens to access online public services, digital transactions and government applications. Eligibility verification will be carried out digitally using existing public registers, eliminating the need for paper documents and long queues.
