Greece mandates 16‑item car first‑aid kit from 1 January 2027

From 1 January 2027 Greece will require every motor‑vehicle – excluding two‑wheelers – to carry a standardized first‑aid kit, often called a “car pharmacy”. The rule, delayed from earlier dates by ministerial decrees Δ30/45652/2026 and Δ30/60123/2026, follows the European DIN 13164:2022 (or equivalent ISO) standard and must meet the Medical Device Regulation MDR 2017/745. The kit must contain exactly 16 items, including a thermal rescue blanket, adhesive tape roll, a set of stickers, sterile dressings of three sizes, gauze, compresses, elastic bandages, a triangular splint, trauma scissors, vinyl or nitrile gloves, skin‑cleaning wipes, face masks (type IIR or FFP2), and a printed first‑aid guide. All components must bear CE marking, be stored in a dust‑, moisture‑ and oil‑resistant box that is accessible and not locked, and must be within their sterility expiration dates. The measure aims to improve road‑side emergency care across the country.
