Greece: Middle school teacher dismissed for sexual misconduct

A middle school teacher in Greece has received a permanent dismissal following a disciplinary decision by the Secondary Disciplinary Council of the Ministry of Interior. The ruling came after an objection filed by the Governor of the National Transparency Authority.

The disciplinary action follows an investigation triggered by a report from the mother of a minor student. The investigation found sufficient evidence that the educator engaged in improper and indecent behavior, specifically violating sexual freedom. The findings indicated that for a period of three months, the teacher verbally and physically harassed the student by isolating her in the classroom.

In addition to the administrative dismissal, the teacher faced criminal prosecution for the grooming of a child over the age of twelve. Following a decision by the Mixed Jury Court, the individual was found guilty of these offenses.
