Greece Ministry of Education announces substitute applications and vocational school requests
The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has announced that applications for substitute positions for Special Educational Personnel (EEP) and Special Assistant Personnel (EVP) will be accepted from August 14 to August 24. This process concerns the 2026-2027 school year and is open to members registered in the final evaluation lists for various specialties, including speech therapists, psychologists, school nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and social workers.
Separately, the ELME of Lemnos and Agios Efstratios has issued a request to the Ministry for the approval of small-enrollment classes and apprenticeship programs at vocational high schools (EPAL) on Lemnos for the 2026-2027 academic year. The union argues that standard numerical criteria for class formation do not account for the unique challenges of island regions, such as small student populations and limited local labor markets. They emphasize that failing to approve these classes may force students to relocate to other islands to pursue specific vocational training.
