Greece Ministry of Justice completes 24 Recovery Fund milestones

The Greek Ministry of Justice has completed all 24 milestones assigned to it under the ‘Greece 2.0’ Recovery and Resilience Facility. The total budget for these interventions amounts to 365.4 million euros, consisting of 13 reformative milestones and 11 investment milestones.

The program focused on modernizing the judicial system through digital transformation, infrastructure improvements, and institutional reforms. Key organizational changes include the implementation of the New Judicial Map, optimizations in court administration, the establishment of Judicial Police, and the simplification of judicial procedures. Additionally, efforts were made to accelerate the resolution of pending lawsuits in Administrative Courts and enhance the use of judicial statistical data.

Investment projects totaling 116.2 million euros were dedicated to judicial infrastructure. These included the acquisition and construction of property for courts and judicial services in Piraeus, the upgrading of Administrative Courts in Athens, and the restoration of the Arsakeio building, which houses the Council of State. Other actions included energy upgrades at the National School of Judicial Officers and the Court of Audit, as well as training programs in mediation to promote out-of-court dispute resolution.
