Greece Ministry of Rural Development launches multi-law bill

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food has released a multi-law bill for public consultation. The legislation aims to implement Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s commitment to a digital ‘farmer card’ by linking the Registry of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings (MAAE) with the myagro single application for aid (OSDE).

The bill also focuses on modernizing the fisheries sector through full digitalization. It establishes a National Fisheries Control System that covers both maritime activities and trade, providing real-time digital connectivity with the European Commission and other member states. A central component is the Integrated Fisheries Monitoring System (OSPA), which will consolidate data regarding fishing licenses, vessel information, product traceability, and violations into a single digital environment.

Additionally, the bill introduces new administrative compliance measures to combat illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing. This includes the authority to immediately suspend fishing activities or change a vessel's course for inspection. The consultation period is open to citizens and market stakeholders until September 7, 2026.
