Greece observes World Restart a Heart Day with nationwide CPR training

On October 16, 2026, various educational and municipal entities in Greece participated in activities marking World Restart a Heart Day. A major nationwide initiative led by the organization KIDS SAVE LIVES, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Panhellenic Medical Association, engaged thousands of students across the country.

The central event took place at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, where 1,227 schools participated, including 24 schools from Central Macedonia in person. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and sought to break previous participation records. Students participated in experiential learning, using improvised models to practice chest compressions.

In Rhodes, the Municipality organized a separate training session for its staff focused on cardiac arrest response and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). During this event, the Association of Symiakoi of Rhodes donated an AED to the Municipality, which will be placed at the Municipal Theatre of Rhodes and made available for the Rodon summer cinema.
