Greece Police Detain Suspects in Fraud and Armed Robbery Cases
A 28‑year‑old Greek man was arrested in the Almyros area after police said he impersonated a power‑company employee and a accountant to defraud two elderly residents. In one scheme he persuaded a senior citizen to place copper wiring in foil and a bag outside her home, then stole the bag. In a second attempt he claimed to be an accountant and tricked another elderly woman into handing over a box of receipts and jewelry, which he also took.
Separately, a 41‑year‑old Turkish national was captured in Argostoli after allegedly breaking into a home where a 26‑year‑old Afghan man was staying, stealing €60 and injuring the victim with a broken bottle in what prosecutors describe as a robbery and attempted homicide. Both suspects were taken to the public prosecutor’s office for further investigation.
