Greece posts record level of direct foreign investment, says PM’s digital communications chief

Nikos Romanos, director of Digital Communication for the Greek prime minister, told Skai TV that Greece has achieved a record level of direct foreign investments, the highest in recent decades. He described the surge as the strongest indication that the country’s production model is changing and as a key step toward greater economic self‑sufficiency.

Romanos also highlighted recent government actions that he said support the positive trend, including reductions in fuel prices, the cancellation of the “widow’s pension” withholding, a €150 child allowance, and the introduction of a new train service. He noted that the latest GPO poll shows New Democracy maintaining and strengthening its position, and that the record investment figures precede other positive developments such as recent anti‑terrorism arrests and retail price‑cut agreements with supermarkets.

According to Romanos, the continued rise in foreign investment demonstrates that Greece’s economy is expanding its productive base and can sustain ongoing social support measures.
