Greece prepares for first manned space mission with Greek astronaut

Greece is preparing for its first manned space mission, featuring Dr. Adriano Golemis as the country's first astronaut. The mission is transitioning from the planning phase to active preparation and implementation.

Dr. Anezina Solomonidou, a planetary scientist at the Hellenic Space Center (ELKED) and the mission lead for Greece, stated that the project aims to go beyond mere symbolism. The mission involves conducting Greek scientific experiments on the International Space Station (ISS) under microgravity conditions.

The initiative seeks to create a lasting scientific and technological footprint for Greece by involving universities, research centers, and private companies, thereby establishing national expertise in the modern space era.
