Greece raises 2025 ecological scheme payments to record levels

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced the final unit prices for the 2025 Ecological Schemes, the highest since the programme began in 2023. After completing required administrative and cross‑checks and receiving final data from the AADE, the ministry set the payments, which will be disbursed by the end of June 2026.

Funding comes from unused Basic Income Support resources and a reallocation of the Common Agricultural Policy budget. Most interventions now approach or reach their maximum caps, with several seeing dramatic hikes – on‑site composting support jumps from €27 to €120 per hectare (a 344% rise), reduced‑spray nozzle subsidies rise from €13 to €30 per hectare (131%), and organic livestock subsidies increase by up to 82%.

The increases aim to fully utilise available plan resources and direct saved funds to high‑demand measures, benefiting eligible farmers across Greece.
