Greece reopens tourism office in Melbourne

The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) has officially reopened its office in Melbourne, marking a return to the Australian market after its previous Sydney-based office closed in 2013. Housed at the Greek Consulate General, the office began operations on November 11, 2025, under the leadership of Director Georgia Dimopoulou.

The new office aims to diversify the Greek tourism experience for travelers from Australia and New Zealand. Rather than focusing solely on traditional summer island holidays, the GNTO strategy seeks to promote year-round travel and diverse offerings, including cultural tourism, gastronomy, wellness, outdoor activities, and maritime cruises.

By targeting lesser-known destinations and alternative forms of tourism, the organization intends to spread visitor demand more widely across the country and extend the tourism season beyond peak months. The office will work with travel agents, airlines, and industry partners to promote these sustainable and authentic local experiences.
