Greece reports 30 wildfires across the country in 24 hours
Greece has experienced a surge in wildfires, with 30 agricultural and forest fires reported across the country within a 24-hour period. Firefighting forces successfully contained 20 of these incidents at their initial stages, while 10 fires remain under active management.
In Corinth, a fire in the low vegetation of Velina was brought under control following the mobilization of 22 firefighters, a specialized mountain unit from the 9th EMODE, six vehicles, and two aircraft. Additionally, a fire broke out in the Rigano-kampo area of Patras, requiring immediate intervention by firefighting services to prevent further spread.
Investigative offices and units from the Arson Crimes Directorate are currently examining the causes of these outbreaks. Authorities have issued a call for citizens to remain vigilant and strictly follow official safety instructions.
