Greece reports expansion in special education and new postgraduate openings
The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has reported significant advancements in special education and inclusion for the 2025-26 period. Minister Sofia Zacharaki presented data to Parliament highlighting an 89.6% increase in the number of inclusion classes. Key initiatives include the establishment of 600 new SDEY units, psychosocial support for students and families, and increased support for KEDASY centers and special schools.
Additionally, the University of Western Macedonia in Florina has issued a supplementary call for applications for its postgraduate program in ‘Education Sciences: Management and Administration in Education – Educational Leadership’ for the 2026–2027 academic year. The program aims to fill remaining vacancies, with applications open until September 7, 2026.
