Traffic fatalities reported in the UK and Greece
Several fatal and serious traffic accidents have been reported across Greece and the United Kingdom.
In the UK, a multi-vehicle collision involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat occurred on the A66 near Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire. Cleveland Police confirmed that multiple people died in the early hours of the morning, and the road was closed for investigation.
In Greece, a 39-year-old motorcyclist was declared brain-dead at KAT Hospital in Athens following a collision with a taxi in Voula. The taxi driver, who allegedly made an illegal U-turn, was released on bail with his driving license revoked. The victim's family has decided to donate his organs, including his kidneys, liver, corneas, and lungs, through the Greek Transplantation Organization.
Additionally, a 21-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with a taxi in the Platanias area of Rethymno, Crete. This incident marks the 21st traffic fatality on Crete since the beginning of 2026.
