Greece reports two separate maritime-related deaths
Two separate maritime-related deaths have been reported in Greece.
In Zakynthos, a 34-year-old British tourist was found in distress in the sea near Marathoni than Lagana. Despite efforts by local swimmers to bring him to shore and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as well as assistance from a Hellenic Coast Guard patrol vessel, the man was pronounced dead after being transported to Zakynthos General Hospital. Authorities have launched a preliminary investigation and ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
In Ithaki, a 64-year-old Greek passenger on a Cyprus-flagged ferry died after requiring urgent medical attention while the vessel was docked at Vathy port. The man was transported to the Ithaki Health Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Ithaki Port Authority has initiated a preliminary investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted by the Forensic Service of Patras to establish the circumstances of his death.
