Greece reports house fire in Artemida and wildlife collision in Larissa
Several incidents occurred across Greece involving fires, accidents, and weather-related damage.
A serious house fire broke out on Chatzopoulou Street in Artemida on Tuesday evening. The blaze caused the roof to collapse and was accompanied by reports of explosions. Firefighters from Markopoulo and Artemida responded to the scene. While the fire was brought under control, authorities searched for an individual who may have been inside the residence at the time.
In Vromoneri, a fire caused significant damage to a holiday home owned by foreigners. The fire, which appeared to start on the roof, caused a section of the ceiling to collapse, resulting in tens of thousands of euros in damages. Investigators are looking into whether recent heavy electrical activity and lightning in the area contributed to the cause.
On the Larissa–Trikala National Road, a vehicle collided with a herd of wild boars near Piniada. The driver was uninjured, though the car sustained material damage.
Additionally, in central Lamia, a large tree collapsed onto a pedestrian walkway during rainfall, causing disruption but no reported injuries. Authorities are investigating whether the collapse was due to weather conditions or pre-existing structural issues with the tree.
