GSSEE reminds Greek parents of school attendance leave rights

The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSSEE), through the Center for Information of Employees and Unemployed (KEPEA), has issued a reminder regarding school attendance leave for working parents as the new school year begins.

Under current legislation, all working parents, whether employed full-time or part-time, are entitled to up to four working days of leave per calendar year for each child up to the age of 18 attending primary or secondary education. This includes kindergarten students. The leave is granted without any reduction in wages and does not offset other types of leave.

Parents may use this leave for several hours or for entire days, including the day of the school blessing (agiasmos), school holidays, or specific educational events. If both parents are employed, they may decide how to share the four days, provided they inform their employer via a formal declaration. More favorable terms may apply if specified by collective bargaining agreements or individual labor regulations.
