Greece seeks energy partnerships with Lebanon

Greece is pursuing a strategic partnership with Lebanon focused on creating ‘energy bridges’ to connect the Eastern Mediterranean with European markets. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has emphasized that regional security is intrinsically linked to the development of shared infrastructure and energy connectivity.

Athens views Lebanon as a potential hub for energy and commercial flows, aiming to transform the region from a zone of tension into a space for cooperation. The Greek government supports Lebanese sovereignty and stability, noting that the strengthening of the Lebanese Armed Forces is a prerequisite for realizing future energy and trade projects. Additionally, Greece welcomes Lebanon’s engagement in direct dialogue with Israel through American mediation as a step toward regional de-escalation.
