Greece seeks mission name for first astronaut's space flight
The Greek Space Center and the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence are inviting the public to propose a name for the first Greek space mission. The mission, part of the VAST-PAM-1 program, will see ESA astronaut Adrianos Golemis travel to the International Space Station in the summer of 2027.
Golemis, a physician and amateur astronomer, is scheduled to remain on the station for two weeks to conduct Greek and European scientific experiments. The mission is described as a collective effort involving research centers, universities, and companies across Greece and Europe.
Proposed names should be short, easy to pronounce in both Greek and English, and appeal to the younger generation in Greece and Europe. The organizers seek a name that reflects Greek cultural identity, the spirit of research and exploration, and the importance of cooperation.
