Greece seeks US Precision Strike Missiles to extend artillery range

Greece has begun consultations with Lockheed Martin about acquiring the U.S.-made Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), a tactical ballistic missile with a range of more than 500 km. The talks follow an initial meeting at the Eurosatory weapons exhibition in Paris and aim to prepare a formal request to Washington during a scheduled meeting in Athens next week, marking the first step toward a possible intergovernmental weapons agreement.

Acquiring PrSM would complement Greece’s recent purchase of Israeli PULS rocket‑artillery systems. The plan also includes modernising 15 of the 36 M270 multiple‑launch rocket systems to the A2 configuration to make them compatible with PrSM, and considering the purchase of 15 new HIMARS launchers – potentially the newer HIMARS FLEX – while selling older M270 units to help fund the programme. Greek armed forces hope to field the new capability before 2030.
