Greece sees surge in juvenile burglaries in Rhodes and Serres
Greek police detained two men, aged 20 and 27, in Rhodes after linking them to a series of thefts and attempted thefts between 17 June and 30 June 2026. The suspects stole small items and cash from unlocked vehicles, attempted to break into seven additional cars, and robbed a house of €800 in cash and goods worth about €4,000. Police seized helmets, images and other items for forensic analysis and returned recovered property to owners while the investigation continues.
In Serres, seven minors aged 12 to 17 were arrested for breaking into three stores and two cars from 25 July to 28 July 2026. They stole €390 in cash, items worth €50, a wallet with $200, and five bank cards used for purchases totalling €132.60. A homemade cannabis cigarette was also confiscated. The suspects were handed over to the public prosecutor, and police are probing possible involvement in further offenses.
