Greece Sets Final June 30, 2026 Deadline for Nationwide Elevator Registration

The Greek Ministry of Development confirmed that the deadline for registering all elevators in the national Elevator Registry is fixed at 30 June 2026, with no further extensions possible. A recent working meeting of the Independent Authority for Market and Consumer Protection, attended by ministry officials and industry bodies, reported that the registration process is progressing smoothly and has reached a high completion rate, especially for regularly maintained elevators.

As of 19 June 2026, 286,324 elevators have been recorded out of an estimated 310,000 nationwide. The authorities will enforce post‑deadline inspections to ensure consumer safety and compliance with legislation. Elevator owners and managers are urged to complete any outstanding entries before the cut‑off date.

The final registry will enable the state to analyse accurate data and shape targeted oversight policies to prevent risks and enhance the safe operation of elevators across residential, commercial and mixed‑use buildings.
