Greece sets school start date for 2026‑27 academic year

The Greek Ministry of Education announced that the new school year 2026‑2027 will officially begin on Friday, 11 September 2026, with the traditional blessing ceremony in all schools. Teachers are scheduled to return to their institutions on Tuesday, 1 September 2026 to carry out preparatory tasks such as administrative meetings, timetable planning, classroom inspections and material distribution.

On the first day, students will receive textbooks, information about the weekly schedule and orientation material, but regular lessons will not commence until after the inaugural ceremonies are completed.
