Greece showcases advanced defense systems in Thessaloniki parade

Greece held a military parade in Thessaloniki to commemorate the national holiday, Ohi Day, marking the country's refusal of an Italian ultimatum in 1940. The event featured the debut of several advanced military technologies, including the ‘Achilles Shield’ air and missile defense system, Greek-made unmanned systems, and specialized technology designed to detect and neutralize enemy drones.

Other hardware showcased during the parade included the PULS missile system, Spike NLOS anti-tank missiles, Stryker armored vehicles, and the Bellera-class frigate ‘Kimon’. The aerial component featured F-16 Viper, Mirage, and F-4 fighter jets, concluding with a demonstration by the Hellenic Air Force ‘Zeus’ team.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that the armed forces are undergoing the largest procurement strategy in their history to bolster deterrence. He emphasized that while Greece is a force for peace, it will not succumb to threats. President Konstantinos Tassoulas also addressed the crowd, noting that the modern weaponry demonstrates Greece's capability to defend its freedom and resist external pressures.
