Greece signs €43M contracts for olive fruit fly control materials

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food has signed contracts for the procurement of olive fruit fly control materials for the 2026–2028 period. The international tender, announced in April 2026, has a total budget of €42,993,699.20 including VAT.

In a shift from previous annual procurement, the new framework is designed for three years, consisting of an initial two-year agreement with the possibility of a one-year extension. This multi-year approach allows the Ministry to adjust material quantities annually based on the actual needs of olive-growing regions and program data.

Deputy Minister Giannis Andrianos stated that the goal was to move from annual to stable multi-year planning to ensure timely delivery and payment to contractors within the current financial year. This strategy aims to avoid carrying over obligations to the next fiscal year and reduces the administrative burden on the Ministry.
