Greece summer sales to continue until August 31
Summer sales in Greece are scheduled to continue for another 15 days, concluding on August 31. Retailers in sectors such as clothing and footwear are expected to see a boost in turnover during this period.
Under current retail regulations, businesses must clearly display both the original and the new discounted prices. The original price is defined as the lowest price at which the product was sold within the last 30 days, or within the last 10 days for products that have been on the market for less than a month. While displaying a specific discount percentage is optional, it must be clearly identified as a discount. If more than 60% of a store's products are discounted, the percentage must be displayed in the storefront window.
Consumers are advised to distinguish between 'sales' (typically current season items) and 'offers' (often older stock with deeper discounts). Experts warn shoppers to verify final prices rather than relying solely on percentage labels to avoid potential artificial price increases prior to sale periods. Additionally, consumers are protected by law regarding defective products, which may entitle them to repair, replacement, or a refund.
