Greece to introduce new incentives for business mergers
The Greek government is planning a new cycle of incentives to encourage business mergers, aiming to increase the scale and competitiveness of Greek companies through 2030. Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hardjidakis stated that while the country's high number of small businesses reflects a strong entrepreneurial spirit, their limited scale hinders international competition and access to capital.
The initiative seeks to create larger corporate entities with increased financing and investment capabilities. A key government objective is to raise total investments from 45 billion euros to 65 billion euros.
Additionally, Hardjidakis highlighted judicial reforms, noting that case processing times at the Athens Court of First Instance have decreased by 50%, with a goal to align with European averages by 2027. Other priorities include spatial planning for tourism, industry, and renewable energy, as well as the full operationalization of the Land Registry.
