Greece to launch digital Farmer's Card activation in August 2026

A new digital procedure for the activation of the Farmer's Card will be implemented in Greece starting August 28, 2026. This process aims to simplify and accelerate access to bank financing for agricultural producers by directly linking the 2026 Single Application for Support (EAE) with banking products.

Upon finalizing the EAE, farmers can optionally generate a digital file containing a unique QR code. This file will include essential details such as the producer's Tax Identification Number (AFM), full name, IBAN for subsidy payments, and the value of held or transferring support rights. This data will be transmitted to participating credit institutions to facilitate financing requests without requiring manual re-submission of documents.

Regarding banking details, once a financing contract is signed via the Farmer's Card, the declared IBAN will be locked and cannot be changed until the loan is fully repaid. Banks are required to electronically notify the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) within five working days of full repayment to lift this restriction. For existing financing, banks must update the AADE via the Agrocarta application by August 14, 2026, regarding paid-off amounts.
