Greece to launch teleworking program for 1,000 unemployed residents
The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) is set to launch a new program by the end of November to create 1,000 teleworking positions for unemployed individuals living in mountainous and remote areas. The initiative, backed by a budget of approximately 15.756 million euros from national resources, aims to provide employment opportunities without requiring residents to migrate to urban centers.
The program includes a subsidy covering 90% of payroll and insurance costs for a period of 12 months. While final conditions are pending an official invitation, monthly gross salaries are expected to reach up to 1,300 euros.
The first phase will focus on 38 small mountainous municipalities where local job availability is limited. If suitable candidates are not identified in these areas, the search is expected to expand to an additional 74 municipalities. DYPA is currently collaborating with large companies that already utilize teleworking to ensure the creation of genuine employment opportunities.
