Greece to mandate electronic entry of diagnostic lab results
Starting September 1, 2026, Greece will begin the phased mandatory electronic entry of diagnostic laboratory test results into the Digital Repository. Announced by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, this requirement applies to all public and private healthcare providers contracted with EOPYY.
Compliance is tied to financial reimbursement, as uploading results to the repository is now a prerequisite for EOPYY to compensate providers. The initial phase focuses on 'Biological Materials 1 & 2' categories. Additionally, changes to Master Data services and new LOINC mappings will become mandatory on November 1, 2026.
The initiative aims to strengthen the National Health Record, allowing citizens direct access to their diagnostic history and facilitating continuity of care. The Ministry also plans to extend this mandatory digital recording to imaging examination results in the coming months.
