Greece to pay 400 euro pension supplement in November

Greek retirees will receive a one-time emergency supplement of 400 euros in late November, alongside their December pension payments. This increase follows previous amounts of 250 and 300 euros. The new payment will reach nearly 2.2 million beneficiaries because income criteria have been removed.

To qualify, individuals must be at least 66 years old (born on or before December 31, 1960). Other eligible groups include survivors' pensioners aged 60 and over who do not receive a primary old-age pension, disability pensioners through e-EFKA, and certain uninsured elderly receiving EFKA benefits.

Giorgos Koutsibogiorgos, president of the Pensioners' Confederation (AGSSE), criticized the exclusion of certain groups, including sailors, widows, and those who retired early due to heavy or unhealthy working conditions. The AGSSE has called for the implementation of 13th and 14th pensions.
