Greece to release agricultural subsidies and 2019 arrears by late September

Greek farmers are expected to receive two significant payments by the end of September. The first involves an emergency 'de minimis' state aid totaling approximately 4 million euros for pomegranate growers across six regional units: Ilia, Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Pella, Phthiotis, and Florina. Beneficiaries submitted applications between September 10 and September 18.

The second payment involves the settlement of outstanding 2019 basic assistance arrears. According to the schedule announced by Giorgos Pitsilis, Governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), approximately 2 million euros will be distributed to 1,000 beneficiaries. This settlement is part of a regulatory framework intended to clear unified assistance applications from 2018 to 2022.

Other pending issues include payments related to Measure 23, affecting roughly 12,000 agricultural plots, which are also targeted for completion by late September. However, arrears for the years 2024 and 2025 are not expected to be settled within September, with producers looking toward October for potential updates.
