Greece tourism sector sees rising flight capacity and new travel vouchers

Greece is seeing significant activity in its tourism sector for the 2026 season. Airline capacity for international flights to the country is projected to reach over 30.6 million seats, a 7.6% increase compared to 2025. Data from INSETE Intelligence indicates a trend toward extending the tourism season, with notable growth in flights during shoulder months like March and October.

Simultaneously, the “Tourism for All 2026-2027” program is accepting applications until August 21, 2026. The initiative provides travel vouchers ranging from 200 to 600 euros to assist citizens with accommodation costs. The program features expanded income thresholds to include more middle-class households, such as an increased limit of 21,000 euros for single individuals and 33,000 euros for married couples without children.

To encourage sustainable growth, approximately 70% of the program's budget is directed toward the low season (October to April), offering higher subsidies to support mountain and less popular destinations. Beneficiaries are selected via electronic lottery, and special provisions exist for persons with disabilities and large families.
