Athens: Three dead in fatal motorcycle collision on Alexandras Avenue
Three people died in a severe motorcycle accident in central Athens during the early hours of Tuesday, September 1. The collision occurred around 1:30 AM at the intersection of Alexandras Avenue and Armeni Vraila, near Pedion tou Areos.
According to reports, two motorcycles collided with each other before crashing into a parked, unoccupied car. The victims, all of whom were riding the motorcycles, were identified as a 51-year-old man and two women, one aged 27 and another whose identity has not yet been released. All three were transported to Erythros Stavros Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Traffic authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary inquiries are examining whether one of the riders ran a red light, though this has not been confirmed. Investigators are also reviewing local CCTV footage and checking if the riders were wearing helmets.
