Greece Home Renovation Program sees 91,000 eligibility certifications

The Greek Home Renovation Program has seen significant engagement, with over 91,000 applications receiving eligibility certifications. The program, which has a total budget of 2 billion euros, has reached a 95% absorption rate of its funds.

Recent regulatory changes have removed previous restrictions, now allowing property owners to apply for subsidies for multiple closed properties (homes not inhabited in 2024 and 2025) without a numerical limit, provided each property meets the criteria independently. However, households remain limited to one open/primary residence.

Subsidies cover between 70% and 95% of renovation and energy upgrade costs, capped at 300 euros per square meter. This can result in grants of up to 36,000 euros per eligible home, with an additional 2,500 euros available for supplementary expenses like engineering services and permits. Eligibility is based on properties with building permits issued by December 31, 1990, and specific income thresholds. For example, single individuals in Category 1 can earn up to 18,000 euros, while married couples without minor children in Category 2 can earn up to 35,000 euros. Provisions for increased support exist for mountainous or island regions, single-parent families, and large families.
