Greece weather: Severe storms subside as new low-pressure system approaches

After heavy rainfall on Wednesday, which saw over 100mm of rain in Magnesia and the Sporades, weather conditions in Greece are undergoing a temporary stabilization. Most regions are experiencing local showers and increased cloud cover, with phenomena expected to weaken by the afternoon, particularly in Attica and central Greece.

However, meteorologists warn of a significant deterioration starting this weekend. A new low-pressure system is expected to approach from the west, bringing a more intense wave of bad weather from Sunday through the first ten days of November. This upcoming period is predicted to bring widespread heavy rains, strong storms, and a notable drop in temperatures, with snow expected in the mountainous regions of the central country.

In the interim, temperatures remain relatively low for the season, ranging from 3 degrees Celsius in Western Macedonia to approximately 22 degrees Celsius in southern regions. Winds in the Aegean are expected to reach 6 to 7 Beaufort before gradually weakening.
