Meromimia forecasts predict snow in winter 2026 and heatwaves in summer 2027
Based on traditional Meromimia observations, weather forecaster Fani Chatzigriva predicts significant seasonal contrasts for Greece during the 2026-2027 period.
The winter of 2026-2027 is expected to feature cold spells and increased chances of snowfall. Notable periods include a temperature drop around December 21-23, increasing the likelihood of snow near Christmas, and a strong winter episode between January 23-25, which may bring snow to low altitudes. A final cold wave is possible in late February, primarily affecting northern and eastern Greece.
In contrast, the summer of 2027 is projected to experience two major heatwaves. The first prolonged period of heat is expected from July 5 to July 25. The second significant heatwave is predicted to occur between August 7/8 and August 18, with the highest temperatures likely in the interior and western regions. Following these periods, a sudden drop in temperature and heavy rainfall are anticipated.
