For the 2026-2027 winter, projections suggest atmospheric instability characterized by sharp temperature fluctuations. While ECMWF data indicates a generally warmer European winter due to Atlantic air masses, specific periods of snowfall are anticipated.

Weather forecaster Fani Chatzigriva, utilizing traditional Meromimia observations, notes an increased probability of snow around the Christmas period (December 21–27, 2026). January 2027 is expected to remain intensely wintry, with potential snowfall at low altitudes between January 17 and 20, and a strong cold episode between January 23 and 25. A final dynamic winter period or cold wave is also anticipated during the last ten days of February, primarily affecting northern and eastern Greece.
