Greece wildfire risk map forecasts medium danger for October 8

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued the daily wildfire risk maps for early October 2026. For Thursday, October 8, certain regions in Greece are classified under category 2, indicating a medium level of risk.

These daily maps are a core component of the “Iolaos 2” Emergency Response Plan for forest fires. The system categorizes risk into five levels, ranging from low (green) to alert status (red). The primary goal is to ensure the readiness of authorities and to protect lives, property, and the natural environment through coordinated prevention and response.

Authorities advise citizens to exercise caution by avoiding outdoor heat-related work, prohibiting barbecues in forested areas, and keeping flammable materials away from homes. In the event of a fire, citizens are instructed to contact the Fire Service immediately via 199 or 112.
